Online Karaoke Apps have emerged as a great resource for those who love to sing. They can sing ‘bindaas’ and express their musical emotions through these.  Presently, the two most popular Karaoke Apps which are available are – Smule and Starmaker.  Although basically these two both serve one common purpose – that is, to let users sing along the millions of tracks available in multiple languages, but they both have their pros and cons, which are being discussed in this article.

Although both Apps  have advantages and disadvantages, but the one which is preferable for beginners is StarMaker as it is more user-friendly and easier to get started with.

Smule, on the other hand, is more techno-savvy and offers a wider range of capabilities, which are beneficial for singers who wish to profit from their recordings. You may compete or perform duets with other users in the app’s vast community.  Almost all vocalists enjoy Smule, whether they are professionals, amateurs, beginners, or even toilet singers. You will be disappointed with this App until you have paid for it. Because, Smule is a paid-only software that provides just one song as a free trial to newcomers. You won’t be able to publish any more songs as lead once you’ve posted your first. You are, however, permitted to join other Collab members as a second singer. You must pay for further features and access to music. You may start any song as the lead and use any feature after purchasing a premium subscription.

On the other hand, Starmaker, App, is completely free to download. You just need a little amount of data to download and install it.

The free edition offers a lot of features that will keep you entertained. You may pay to become a VIP member if you want extra features like being featured in trends, adding fancy badges to your id, grand admission and access to family groups, broadcasting capability (available for free version as well), or a stock of bought music. For testing purposes, the free version is advised. You can continue to go with the flow.

Smule, with over 100 million downloads and a variety of functions lets you sing karaoke-style on your own with or without backing tracks and record songs while singing along with other users in real-time. You may also share your performances on social media.

Starmaker, has a user base of over 50 million people. It has millions of songs in many genres and languages. On Starmaker, you may add speech effects, pitch correction, and visual effects to your voice.

Similarities:

  • Smule and Starmaker are mobile applications for singing, recording, and sharing.
  • Both apps have an extensive catalog of songs to sing and a social aspect.
  • But have critical differences that make one app better than the other.
  • Both are available for android and iOS users.
    Both connect you with other singers and allow you to share with other creators.
  • You can sing duets and solos with both apps.
    You can add filters, sound effects, and voice effects to your recordings.
  • Both Smule and StarMaker are also great for discovering new music, as you can access many featured songs from famous artists.
  • Both apps offer a paid membership that will give you more benefits than using the app for free.

 

Disimmilarities:

  • Starmaker features a significantly larger collection of music videos with which you may sing along. You may browse through the most popular songs in different nations or search by artist or genre.
  • Smule is more sophisticated and might be difficult for novices, whereas Starmaker is more user-friendly.
  • Although the Smule app is free and has over 100 million users, it does include in-app charges for VIP services such as limitless track singing.
  • There is a free version of Starmaker, and VIP features may be purchased for a fee.
  • Weekly challenges are offered by Starmaker to assist vocalists develop their skills. Concerts are also available. Smule does not provide both options.

 

Our verdict:  If you are a hobby-singer, go for Starmaker.  If you want to sing with professional touches, then Smule is for you.
