Die-hard fans are all set to celebrate the maestro's birth anniversary the entire June 2022
The renowned music director of Indian film industry – Rahul Dev Burman a.k.a. Pancham Da or RDB’s 83rd birth anniversary falls on 27th June. Just like ever since, his ardent fans are all set to pay tribute to the maestro in their unique ways.
While there are dozens of virtual groups and pages on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc., there are hundreds of physical groups as well all over the world who can’t stop loving the genius’ music even after 4 decades of his passing away. “Pancham is not dead, Panchams don’t die. Pancham lives in our hearts and will remain with us until we pass away one day.” said Prashant Das, author and owner of the popular music website www.notesandsargam.com. Gautam Garg of Facebook page ‘GGAccoustics’ seconds Das’ opinion, “Pancham’s music is forever. Even 500 years on his music will be as fresh as it was 40 years ago.”
On his plans of celebrating ‘Pancham’ this year, Gautam said, “RD Burman month is around. I request you to participate and pay a tribute to RD Burman by making some reels and posting it during the month of June ’22 on my Facebook page and your Insta page (tag me @ggacoustics) (facebook link below). Any Reel having a Pancham song (original track or just music or your voice) or Background score will do. You can dance or sing yourself or lip sync to song. It’s starts on June 1st till his birthday on June 27th. You can make and Post as many reels as you want between this tenure.”
Somewhat similar to what Gautam is doing, Prashant from Notes & Sargam has also planned to pay tribute to R D Burman. “Personally speaking, I’m in love with musical instruments, and a big reason for that is R D Burman. The way RD has used musical instruments and non-musical instruments in his music is something that nobody has been able to do so far. I’m calling all musicians – trained or amateur alike – to perform any of RD’s songs or music pieces on their musical instruments and post those on the Facebook group #ILovePancham (which is run by Notes & Sargam) or as a Reel on Instagram by tagging #notesnsargam.” He further adds, “Since, our 3rd season of Instrumental Music Contest is scheduled for September 2022, we have decided to give ‘Wildcard Entry’ to the 5 topmost admired performances (from this June event) into the contest.
